The Pettaway Pursuit Foundation Announces the Launch of Holding them Up-an NICU Mentoring Program and High-Risk Pregnancy Workshops at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania's Helen O. Dickens Center for Womens Health.
HOLDING THEM UP-NICU MENTORING PROGRAM
On March 1, 2006, The Pettaway Pursuit Foundation will launch Holding Them Up, its NICU Mentoring Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Our mentoring program will be hosted by social workers, staff nurse and at the request of families in need of our services.
Our program will mentor low-income parents and are FREE of charge regardless of age and race. Our mentoring program's main objective is to help families cope with the emotional and physical stress of seeing their fragile infants cling to life in the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit. These tiny lives require 24 hour, round the clock care.
Our mentors are trained in leadership skills, social guidance skills and infant CPR. We will share our experiences and provide encouragement to the parent. We will maintain ongoing contact and support through the duration of the infants stay at the NICU. Depending upon the severity of the case, our support and special services will not terminate until parent is secure in caring for their infant and infant is healthier(determined by the medical physician). Our mentors will always support the prescribed health care directions provided by the infants medical physician.
We will provide: scheduled home and hospital visits 2 times a week emergency visits 24 hour on call services including weekends peer to peer counseling problem solving assistance Kangaroo Care training Reading materials Gift basket with parent and infant essentials
We will assist in babys first day home by: organizing feeding schedule clothing arrangement easy and safe access to medicine medical machine set-up diapers, bathing materials, bedding and more.
We support parents by helping to manage small tasks that would otherwise preoccupy their time and cause stress. We will encourage parents to get involve in their infants day to day care and the importance of asking questions about their child's health.

HIGH-RISK PREGNANCY WORKSHOPS
These FREE workshops are intended for high-risk and bed-rest pregnancy patients. We will provide: guess speakers literature one-on-one conversation question and answers sessions presentations consultants for team building sessions hands-on preemie models give-a-ways
We have been successfully rendering our services since September 13, 2026 with the support of educational materials to help eliminate the emotional and physical stress related to high-risk pregnancy and bed-rest. These materials will provide excellent information on prenatal care and educate patients on proper healthcare lifestyles, which will promote healthier pre-term infants or full-term infants, lower mortality rates and the cost of healthcare expenses submitted to healthcare providers.
